About Us – Our Heritage and Vision
Established in 1969, NASCOH (National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped) was birthed from a need for a centralized, powerful voice to advocate for those often left behind. For over 55 years, we have evolved from a traditional care-based model to a rights-based empowerment model.
One of our core objectives is to lobby and advocate for disability-friendly legislation and policies in Zimbabwe. We work tirelessly to ensure that the rights of persons with disabilities are protected under the law.
We conduct vital research on disability issues to provide data-driven insights for policymakers. By documenting the lived experiences of persons with disabilities, we can disseminate accurate information and influence national agendas.
Our participation in major events, such as the National Disability Expo 2025, serves as a platform to showcase the capabilities of our community and the vital work of our members.
Our advocacy isn't limited to Zimbabwe. We promote rights that align with international inclusion standards, ensuring our members are "holistically empowered" on a global stage.
